As a fellow sex addict of the sexaholics class in room 108B, I would like to welcome you to stage one of being a sex addict.

first you desire to nail things.

step two is actually nailing everything

its really hard to explain to your friends and family why your nailing the napkin ring at dinner, or why the knot in the wall was so tempting.

I believe that you’re confusing the distance between the studs with the commonly used measurement of ‘On Center’. ‘On Center’ (or O. C. ) means exactly what it implies – the distance from the center of one stud to the center of the next. This is accomplished by simply marking your layout on either side of the stud or the other. Then just make sure you keep all studs on the same side of your mark. With modern studs being an 1-1/2″ wide, that would leave you with a 14-1/2″ bay between them. Studs are always placed 16″ O. C. I believe some local codes allow 24″ O. C. for partition walls (non-structural), but as a matter of practice, it makes more sense to put everything on 16″ centers – you never know – that ‘non-structural’ wall’ may someday be needed in a different capacity. Further, the difference in costs is minimal and reflects in a more professional approach to your project. A word on your new pneumatic gun. Don’t worry too much as to how often to oil it. A few drops now and then is more than sufficient. I’ve worked with these guns for the last 40 years and the worst thing that can happen is a blown seal. I usually keep a seal kit on site and make my own repairs as needed. Most of these guns will go for years without any maintenance but the one thing you need to check on a regular basis is the safety lock on the trigger. This prevents the gun from going off unintentionally (such as when you’re carrying it and you accidentally brush it up against your leg – a malfunctioning safety could cause the gun to discharge a 3-1/4″ chunk of steel into your leg resulting in serious pain). When working properly, the gun should only fire when placed against your work in a proper fashion.
